L’aspetto emozionale dello stile Urban Jungle

Bedroom jungle. Photo by Brandon @mrplantad

Jungle mood.
______________________________________________________________________________

The emotional aspect of the Urban Jungle style

We have been witnessing an epidemic for some time now, which I love to call jungle fever. We are not talking about a serious disease, but a healthy call of nature and the need to bring it into our homes. This way of being and living in the house has become a style: the Urban Jungle. Living surrounded by plants is not just a fashion, it is a lifestyle choice that has several reasons and many benefits. We all have a deep connection with nature that, unfortunately, with today’s life, we are denying. We spend most of our time at the computer, sitting at a table. We live with frenetic rhythms in the chaos of the city, where two aspects are missing: pure air and green.

You will soon understand I am deeply convinced that there is a link between our homes and ourselves. Our house is the mirror of our needs and desires! And so the urban jungle style makes its way. The rule is: zero rules! Only so many, many plants, often also invasive and disproportionate, just like in the jungle … Where? In our house of course!! So an urban jungle.

The benefits of living surrounded by plants are numerous. The first and most evident is the one related to the quality of the air. Plants are a source of oxygen and, if well chosen, can create a real microclimate within our home. Did you know that some release oxygen even at night? These plants can be placed in the bedroom improving the quality of our air and contributing to a quality sleep experience. Moreover many plants, especially the succulent or fat ones, absorb atmospheric pollutants, released by the furniture (due to the materials and surface treatments) and building products.

To this scientific aspect I cannot help adding the EMOTIONAL reason behind the success of this style: the call of nature! Plants brighten our lives, their green leaves and colorful flowers are our daily deal of optimism, moreover they are living beings needing special care and attention and every new sprout is a great satisfaction! We must not forget that the jungle is a chaotic place where there is freedom. And this is exactly the need I am talking about: our call of freedom. Living in contact with plants strengthens the bond with our innermost self, it helps us find ourselves again! And if you really don’t have a green thumb but still feel this burning desire: bring nature into your homes with textiles, colors, wallpaper and design objects … in short, there is something for everyone!

Seeing is believing!
The post Jungle fever first appeared on Arch. Gaia Biancucci.
